Hotel Transylvania:  Seeing Red

Chapter 19

Mavis sat on the floor of her room, her arms sat on her knees brought up to her chest.  Suddenly something flew in through the open window and crashed on the other side of her room.  Mavis coughed as she struggled to fan away the smoke and dust with her hand.  

"Dad?" She said wondering what's going on.  

The smoke cleared up a little more and revealed Dracula with slight burns that began to heal up.  "Ohhh, I'm fine I, I just, just a little sunburned," Dracula said reassuring his daughter.  Mavis took a few steps forward, he looked up.  

"Honey," Dracula said as he walked toward Mavis.  "I always thought the worst thing ever would be seeing you go, but the worst is seeing you unhappy.  Mavy, I want you to live your life."  

Mavis sighed, "I don't know how I'm supposed to do that."  

Dracula paused for a second, "You know mommy already gave you her birthday present can I now give you mine?"  

Dracula walked over to the door and knocked a couple times, Ruby came in holding up a large dark pink and black backpack with the hotel monogram on the front.  

"What do I need this for?"  Mavis asked.  

"Oh it comes with an accessory~," Dracula said as Ruby turned the back pack around revealing Johnny.

"You?"  Mavis said a little taken back.

"You."  Johnny smiled.  

"Why are you back?"  Mavis asked.  

Ruby let go of the backpack so Johnny can walk up to Mavis, "Cause you're my zing Mavis."  

"I'm your zing?  But, you told me you hate monsters," Mavis said.

"Yeah~ well, I was afraid your dad was gonna suck all the blood out of me if I didn't say that," Johnny replied.

Ruby laughed quietly and Dracula appeared from behind the back pack, "I wouldn't have heh heh," he said sheepishly, "eh no he's right I would have done that."  

"Dad!"  Mavis said.

"I was wrong devil chumps," Dracula shrugged then handed her the old postcard of Hawaii.  

Mavis held the card for a moment, "Do you mean it dad?"  

"Go make your own paradise," he said as he brushed back some of Mavis's hair back and smiled.  Mavis looked toward Ruby, who nodded in approval then stood by Dracula.  

Johnny walked over to Mavis, "Can we try that kiss over again?"  

Mavis looked to her right and giggled, "I think we can."  

As they leaned forward Dracula roared and growled for a few seconds then stopped realizing what he was doing.  

"Sorry I I-I uh, gotta get used to that uh-"  

"I think we should get going," Ruby said as she shoved Dracula out the door.

As the two vampires walked down the hall, Dracula sighed, "I'm sure going to miss my little girl."  

"I'm going to miss her too, but at least she'll have someone with her," Ruby said.  

Dracula smiled, "You're right."  

Ruby thought for a minute then Dracula turned his head to her, "What are you thinking about?"  

"I was thinking we should do about one more party, you know before she leaves," Ruby suggested.

"Yeah, since the one the other night went...you know," Dracula said.  

"I know but this time it'll be better," Ruby said.  

"Hmm...How about Hawaiian theme?"  Dracula suggested.  

"Love it!  Anything you need me to do?"  Ruby asked.

"Tell you what, how about you take a few hours off to rest up a bit," Dracula said.

"Are you sure?"  Ruby said.

"Of course, you deserved it and you wouldn't want to be too tired for Mavis's party," Dracula said.

Ruby giggled, "I guess you're right."

After walking down one of the many long hallways they stopped at the door to Ruby's room.  Just as she was about to open the door to go inside, Dracula spoke, "Oh Ruby."  
Ruby paused as she was about to enter her room then turned around to face him, "Yes?"  

"Why did you follow me all the way to the airport?  I mean, you could of, you know...," he trailed off.  

Ruby blushed slightly, "Well, I really wanted to...be there, cause I really...umm...what I really want to say is," she said while she wringed her hands together.  

Dracula began to blush himself , "Rue, I-"

"Sir! Sir!" An armor suit came running down the hallway then stopped in front of the two, "You're presence is requested in the lobby."  

Dracula sighed, "Ok I'll be there in a minute."  

After the armor left then he turned to Ruby, they blushed once again, "Umm, do you think we can talk later?  I-I mean if you want too."  

Ruby smiled, "Sure, whatever works best," she said before she went into her room and closed the door.
