Hotel Transylvania:  Seeing Red

Chapter 17

They continued down the road until the saw a figure walking in the distance.  "Look, a human," Griffin pointed out, everyone stared as they passed by.  He wore simple pants and t-shirt but he also wore a vampire cape and pointed ears.  

He turned around, "Welcome to Transylvania!  Ah-roooooo!!!"  They continued to stare, not sure what to make of that bizarre outburst.  

"That was trippy," Frank said out loud.  

"You don't say,"  Ruby responded.  

At the front of the town, there was a black banner with purple trim, and bright green letters that spelled out; WELCOME TO MONSTER FESTIVAL.  

"Monster festival?"  Wayne said, "What's a monster festival?"  

They slowly drove into town and saw more banners in different colors, some of them said; WE 'HEART' DRACULA, I CARRY A TORCH FOR FRANKENSTIEN, DRACULA FOR PRESIDENT, etc.  

"Did they know we were coming?" Murray asked.  

"I don't think so," Ruby said.  

Soon the streets became crowded with humans, most wearing various monster costumes.  The guys watched as some of them walked by, two of them were doing their monster growl at each other, and a female dressed as mummy walked by the hearse turning her head to Murray and gave him a wink and continued to walk by.  Murray grinned and pressed his face to the window as he watched her leave.  Then they noticed a giant inflatable Frankenstein display.  

"They like us, really?"  Frank said in disbelief.  

Dracula rolled down the window, "Excuse me, do you know the best way to the airport?"  He asked a human in a Dracula costume.  

"Yes fellow Dracula there's only one way bleh ble-bleh," he pointed toward a crowded street.  

"But it's all blocked we'll never make it in time," Dracula said.

"You should of left an hour earlier bleh ble-bleh," he said as he walked away.

Dracula leaned out the window and shouted, "I Do Not Say Bleh Ble-Bleh!"  

Ruby quietly giggled, Dracula sat back down, "Alright let's just run through it on foot."  He stepped out of the hearse to get through on foot.  The guys and Ruby stared at each other for a moment before getting out themselves.

The sun beamed down on both vampires, for humans it's pretty much nothing, for them it almost similar being set on fire.  Dracula pulled up his cape to block it out while Ruby used her hooded cape to block out the sun.  It helped but not quite enough.  Frank quickly looked and grabbed two hats from a near by kiosk and placed it on their heads, Dracula got a bright green sunhat while Ruby got a pink one.  

"Drac, Ruby this will protect you two," Frank said.  

"Ble ble-bleh," Dracula said in a mocking tone.  

"Oh I would just love to know where that started," Ruby said sounding a little annoyed.  

"So would I," Dracula responded in deadpan.  

"Imagine if that guy knew he was talking to the real Drac, he'd run for the hills," Frank said excitedly.  

"There we go, that would make things go faster," Ruby said sounding somewhat amused.  That gave Murray an idea.  

"Hold it now, hold it now, that sounds spot on," Murray began and stopped in front of the group, "But the only way they will know the real us is if we show the real us."

Dracula liked this plan, "This could work."  

"You mean scare'em?"  Frank said, unsure of the idea, "We haven't scared people in centuries, I-I don't think I have it in me anymore."  He tried to roar but it wasn't coming out.  "I got nothing, I really got nothing."  

"Let's just move this along," Griffin said as he lit a match and held it in front of Frankenstein's face.  

Frank's eyes grew wide and began roaring and stomping till the concrete broke. He crawled up the inflatable Frankenstein display, stood up on the shoulder, and roared as loud and fierce as he could.  The crowd covered their ears until it stopped, they didn't run away but they applauded and cheered.  

"I'm Trying To Scare You, The Real Frankenstein!"  Frank shouted to the people below.  

"We know!  We love you!"  A guy said.  

"Can you sign my torch!?"  A woman said.

"Listen!  Before anything else," Frank began, "Down there's the real Dracula!"  He said as he pointed down to the vampire.  

"Prove it," a human said, Dracula hypnotized him to take the mug in his hand and smashed it on his head.  "Alright continue."  

"Drac's daughter's in love, and he's got to get to the airport and he can't get thought this crowd!"  Frank said.

"Why doesn't he fly?"  a Frankenstein fan asked.  

"The sun you idiot, he's a vampire," a Dracula fan said.

"That's right!  Thank you monster nerd!  So people if you really are our friends clear a path for the man!"  Frank said.

"Ok, all Dracula's line up bleh ble-bleh," the guy dressed as Dracula instructed and two lines formed in front of Dracula, in one line the humans dressed up as Dracula and the other line were other humans dressed in other costumes or fan attire.  

"Everyone else lift the capes, protect our friend bleh ble-bleh."  Each human lifted a cape making a tunnel that blocked out the sun for safe passage.  

Frank, who was now down with the others, looked toward Dracula, "It's all for you buddy."  

Dracula looked up to his friend.  "Go ahead," Frank encouraged.  

The humans began cheering for Dracula he smiled and rushed through the tunnel listening to the support and appreciation of the humans around him.  

Ruby took one step forward, Frank placed his hand on her shoulder, "What are doing?"  

"I'm going too," Ruby said.  

"No, you're staying here, he can handle this," Frank said as he tried to hold her back.  

"I don't care, I just have to be there for him," Ruby said then turned into a bat wowing the crowd and flew into the tunnel herself.
