*Present*

"So, how is it?"  Ruby asked.

"It's finished but it needs to be set up the day before Mavis's birthday," Dracula said.

"What exactly do I need to do?"

"Well, since I'll be busy with the preparations all you have to do is make sure everything looks perfect in order for it to work."

The red-head thought for a moment, "Ok, when?"

"Tomorrow evening as soon as the sun sets."

"Got it Drac."

As they were about to leave the door opened.  "Oh hey dad, Ruby, what's going on?"  It was Mavis, Dracula's daughter, she stood there staring at the two for a moment.

"Well we were just checking inventory," Dracula replied hoping she would buy it.

"I thought you guys checked inventory last week?"  Mavis asked sounding a bit unconvinced.  "We did, it's just that...," Dracula paused, not sure what to say next.

"Since your birthday is so close and all our friends and family are coming we might as well make sure we have what we need just in case," Ruby quickly added.

Mavis thought about it for a second then said, "I suppose so, I mean we do get some messy guests every now and then."

"Great, maybe later we could get together and hang-out for a bit after my shift is over," the red-headed vampire said.

"Can't wait," Mavis smiled before she left.

Both vampires sighed in relief, "Good save," Dracula commented.

"Thanks."

"One more thing Ruby," Dracula began, "how about you work for a more couple hours, then you can take off early to get some rest before tomorrow?"

The young vampire nodded then went back to her station.  For the rest of the night, she took care of her duties before clocking out.

Ruby walked down the long hallway and stopped in front of the door to her room.  "So long night at work?"  Ruby's shrunken-head door-hanger asked.

"Oh you know, the usual."  She replied as took out her key and opened the door.

Her room had a large bed with red pillows and sheets, a wide dresser, closet, bookshelf, a deep red rug that covered most of the floor, and a tall window with dark curtains.  Ruby fell backwards onto her bed and sighed.

'I really have my work cut out for me', Ruby thought.

The red-head stared up at the ceiling until she heard a knock on the door.  "Hey Rue, you in here?"  Mavis said outside the door.

"Yeah, come in," Ruby says as she sat up, Mavis came in and sat next to Ruby.  "So Rue, I've been wanting to ask, have you ever been to paradise?"

"Paradise?"  Ruby asked, a bit confused.

"You know, that place where my parents met, the postcard I showed you a few times before?"  The dark-haired vampire explained.

"Oh yeah~ I remember, I'm pretty sure it was called...something like ha-wu-wu, ha-wa-wa,

"I can't remember exactly, I mean some of them have names that are hard to pronounce you know."

Mavis and Ruby talked for almost an hour, mostly about seeing the world and what some of the places were like when she realized she needed to get some sleep.  Ruby yawned, "Oh, sorry Mavy, I guess I'm a bit more tired then I thought."

"That's ok, I think I need to get some sleep too, see you tomorrow," Mavis said as she was walking out the door.

'Good thing see didn't ask about what Drac and I were really talking about, I really don't like fooling Mavis like that, but still I just couldn't say no to Dracula, right?'
Ruby thought as she was getting ready for bed, then she closed the curtains and went to sleep.

The next evening, Ruby got up, got ready, and carefully made her way to the work site.  She flew down and noticed a good number of zombies, most were staff members, along with the buildings that still need to be set up as well as some extra props.  Moments later, Dracula appeared with a couple of rolled up papers.

"Good morning," Dracula said.

"Morning, what are those?" The red-head asked.

"This is the basic layout of the town, which building goes where and everything else," Dracula said as he handed over the papers.

He turned his attention over to the zombies, "Everyone your job for tonight is to set up the town and my assistant manager Ruby will be in charge while I take care of things back at the hotel, understood?"

They all groaned and grunted in agreement, "I'm sure you can handle everything else from here," Dracula said to Ruby.

"I sure can."

*Later*

"No-No-No!  That goes over here next to the clock tower and the fountain goes in the center!"

Hours went by, errors were made, some zombies slacked off or fooled around, and there were even some technical problems with the lighting.  Eventually, the town was finished just before sunrise.  After that, the zombies resumed their duties and Ruby flew back towards the hotel.  Dracula at the time was talking to one of his guests and didn't noticed the young red-head coming up behind him.

As he turned around he jumped and gave a light scream, "Don't do that!"

"Sorry, I just love the look on your face every single time," Ruby laughed.

Dracula took a deep breath, "Alright...Is the town finished?"

"Of course."

"Good, now all we have to do is wait until tomorrow."

"Anything you need me to do?"

"No, just manage things here while I take  care of everything else."

"Right."
